The Grandmaster is a 2013 Chinese-Hong Kong martial arts drama film based on the REAL LIFE story of the Wing Chun grandmaster Ip Man (played by 梁朝偉 Tony Leung Chiu-wai). However, there's only one element which is fictional, the character of Gong Er (played by 章子怡 Zhang Ziyi). The film was directed and written by Wong Kar-wai (王家衛) and choreographed by Yuen Woo-ping (袁和平).

The fall of China's last dynasty, a time of chaos, division and war, is the golden age of Chinese martial arts. Legendary kung fu master Ip Man, who will eventually train Bruce Lee Siu-lung (李小龍), finds his peaceful life interrupted by vengeance.
